State Parks to Explore in Nevada
Lincoln County Parks
Cathedral Gorge, Echo Canyon and Spring Valley
Put down the top of your Ford Mustang GT Convertible rental and head out on the open road for a full day of sightseeing and exploration at the state parks. In Lincoln County alone, you’ll find three that will excite. Start off at Cathedral Gorge State Park and admire the siltstone canyons and several hiking trails. You can stop by the visitor’s center to learn more about this park as well.
Then, head out of the park and drive about 22 miles on U.S. 93 until you hit Echo Canyon State Park. There is a 35-acre reservoir on site that allows for lots of boating and fishing opportunities. There’s also the 2.5-mile long Ash Canyon Trail. Drive another 12 miles northeast to find Spring Valley State Park. This is where the 59-acre Eagle Valley Reservoir is located plus there are many historic homes from the 19th-century you’ll want to check out. On a warm day, put the top down and turn the tunes up to explore all of the Lincoln County State Parks.
Two More Parks
Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historical Park and Cave Lake State Park
Take the whole group up the Great Basin Highway in your Ford Transit until you reach Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historical Park. This is a great place to take photos because there’s a 30-foot high beehive-shape where charcoal was once made in the late 19th-century. Then, travel another 17 miles and you’ll run into Cave Lake State Park. This location has a 32-acre reservoir that’s a hotspot for fishing, especially for brown trout. Many hikers take on the Cave Lake Overlook Trail which is a full 4.5-mile loop located on the eastern end of the lake. They also hold many of the community’s events here, like the Ice Show and White Pine Fire.
If you have more time, don’t skip visiting the city of Ely. It’s only 13 more miles and is home to the Nevada Northern Railway. With the help of your Ford Transit for hire, you’ll be able to pile the van full of your family and friends and set out on an excursion you’ll always remember.
